Indian machinations exposed

INDIA Today was established in 1975 by Vidya Vilas Purie (owner of Thompson Press), with his daughter Madhu Trehan as its editor and his son Aroon Purie as its publisher. It started as a bold and incisive English language fortnightly magazine. Later its Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu versions also started being published.

The “India Today” news channel was launched on 22 May 2015. In October 2017, Aroon Purie passed control of the “India Today” Group to his daughter, Kallie Purie. Apparently since then or perhaps slightly before the baton was passed from father to daughter, Indian spy agency RAW appears to have infiltrated “India Today” group. Objective, balanced but hard hitting stories based on deep research gave way to mudslinging and maligning reports based on fabricated news, having neither any base, nor logical evidence but in the case of stories targeting Pakistan are pure figments of imagination, conjured by RAW and blindly reproduced by the “India Today” Group, which now appears to be more of a tabloid than a medium of investigative journalism.
One of the pet tactics of RAW, which has now become a signature tune since the advent of the Hindutva oriented regime headed by Narendra Modi and his minders from RSS is “False Flag” operations. Unfortunately, this practice has become so hackneyed that it is laughable. India Today’s writers, anchor persons and even selected participants, some of whom have an aura of either RSS or RAW or both, so confidently parrot the fabricated content that gullible readers or viewers, if they did not know better, would perhaps believe them. Apparently they are following the Chanakyan dictum: “repeat a lie so often that it appears to be the truth.” As far as RAW is concerned, there is a method in the madness. The carefully choreographed false flag operations are aimed at maligning Pakistan at an international level as well as diverting public attention from the deteriorating law and order situation all over the country especially in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
The latest stage managed maneuvering, again presented through RAW’s mouthpiece: “India Today”, aired a news story titled “Pakistan Planning Fresh 26/11 Type Attack in India” in the highly touted content “India First”. The fairytale type presentation claimed that Pakistan Navy, ISl and Jaish-i-Muhammad (JeM) Chief Azhar Masood are plotting to target key installations in Mumbai on occasion of the tenth anniversary of 26/11, the 2008 Mumbai Attacks. The sinister storyboard alleged that Pakistan is training 50 terrorists from JeM (Bahawalpur Division) to attack India and the plan is code named as “Sea Jihad”. To support the propaganda, and in a desperate attempt to lend credence to the propaganda, an audio clip of Masood Azhar urging people to “learn swimming” was also aired.
Ground reality is that India’s BJP government under the menacing duo, Modi, the butcher of Gujarat and his equally ominous and self styled James Bond National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, who is euphemistically called India’s National Terrorism Adviser are burning the midnight oil in preparing a series of false flag operations to frighten the susceptible Indian public to project their machismo and consolidate the BJP/ Hindu extremist vote bank. Under the banner of Modi-Doval duo, “Terror Boat” episode was repeated in 2015 and 2016, whereas, in 2017 so-called infiltration in IOK was propagated to keep the Indian public sweating in fear. In 2016, the drama of fabricated “surgical strikes” in retaliation to the Uri attacks was staged, which got exposed by a watchful and vigilant Indian media (not “India Today” which still believes in the lies).
2019 is an election year, and we should expect a sharp rise in Indian allegations and insinuations against Pakistan. As the countdown to the general elections begins, on one side, there are heightened cross border attacks by artillery and mortars, taking a toll of innocent civilians while on the other, fake news of impending attacks from Pakistan will continue. “India Today” of September 11, 2018 claims that Lashkar-i-Tayyeba (LeT) co-founder and alleged 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed is building a network of over-ground workers (OGWs) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Jitendra Bahadur Singh, “India Today” correspondent from New Delhi, quoting an “Intelligence report” sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, surmises that Hafiz Saeed has entrusted Pakistan-based LeT commander Saifullah Sajid Jutt with the responsibility of building an OGW network by offering money to families of terrorists. The families in turn have been instructed to brainwash Kashmiri youths. The report also “reveals” that Hizb-ul-Mujahedeen chief Syed Salahudeen has instructed one of his commanders to recruit members in Kishtwar and Doda districts. New recruits will be trained in “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”.
To add colour to the story and depict Indian bravery, the correspondent claims that according to security expert Major General PK Sehgal (Retd), terror groups are jittery following the success of Operation All Out. “Terrorists have been restricted to only four districts of the valley. Any kind of recruitment drive of terror outfits will fail due to the strong human-to-human intelligence network of security forces,” he said. In an unrelated report, “India Today” reporter from Srinagar, Ashraf Wani claims that two Lashkar-i-Tayyeba (LeT) terrorists were killed on September 11, 2018 in an encounter with security forces in Handwara, a village in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Till recently “India Today” was insinuating that “Hafiz Saeed will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan and will have his finger on the nuclear button.” I rest my case.
